The third floor of Stone Mill of Little Falls has been transformed into a 9-room inn, complete with conference room, a great lobby, and all just on the banks of the Mohawk River in Historic Canal Place – now in our 8th year!
Your hosts, David and Richard, have created a diversified atmosphere for the 21 and up crowd, combining industrial heritage along with contemporary styling, a little European flavor in the bathrooms, and all the modern conveniences to create a special place to stay while visiting Little Falls, either on business or personal travels. As soon as you step off that elevator you are transformed into another world.
We would also like to add that every place is different, if you are someone who is not a happy person and has to complain about every little thing, then please don’t stay with us, there is no need for you to bring our atmosphere down. It’s just that simple.
Leave the negativity at the door and experience something out of the ordinary here in Little Falls. The Inn At Stone Mill offers an escape, privacy, safety, and a feeling of security in one of Little Falls’ architecturally significant buildings. It proves that you can combine the old with the new, and create life once again. Truly a hidden gem in the Mohawk Valley.
Our walls of the inn and the mill also feature local artists’ works and, yes, these items are for sale. There are some very talented people in this community. Right now we feature works by Frank Wilcox, Bob Willman, award-winning panoramic framed prints by photographer Bart Carrig, and special “Hollywood Icons” silhouettes by Grey in our rooms, and we even have a great mural representing the Mohawk Valley done by several artists from the local art center and beyond on display in the conference room.
We are located just 3 miles from exit 29A of the New York State Thruway, just follow the signs to Canal Place, no matter from which direction you enter our city. Little Falls is also the halfway point in between Albany and Syracuse, giving you a choice of airport. The nearest Amtrak station is Utica, with several arrivals and departures daily to the east and west. Little Falls is also just under an hour from the Adirondacks; you can do day trips, too!
Our building also features a very unique escape after a day of visiting our area. Our first floor features a coffee house, Ole’ Sal’s, with ice cream, baked goods and a great seating place. Ole’ Sal’s also features a little bit of old and a little bit of new with everything from books to a few antiques and even some gems and Herkimer Diamonds offered by various vendors.
Looking for something to do while you are here? Moss Island is world-renowned for its trails and rock climbing, along with one of the world’s highest lift locks on the Erie Canal, Lock 17, just a short walk from the mill along the river. As Lusta the Mohican would say “come walk the hidden pine trails of the forest,” or in our case, Moss Island and the New York State Bike Trail located on the southern side of the Erie Canal (still incomplete). Outdoor sculpture is beginning to pop up along the waterfront also, some great pieces to check out. The Mohawk Valley Center for the Arts is located just across the street from us, along with great restaurants, bars, and more shopping at the mill next door to us and a new addition to the neighborhood, Showcase Antiques! Truly a day or two can be spent just relaxing along the waterfront and in the Canal Place Historic District, a short walk will take you to Main Street and the center of our city. People come to Little Falls because it is unique, as we are. All types of architecture are represented here, along with a vast melting pot of individuals and lifestyles.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE…REVIEW OUR POLICES BEFORE CALLING FOR A RESERVATION…NO SMOKING, NO PETS, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY YOU MUST BE OVER 21.
David and Richard
